An apple a day keeps the doctor away…..it’s an old proverb. The new generation proverb is 10,000 steps a day keeps the doctor away.
Recently a research organised reports that 10,000 steps a day or keeping onself active and always in motion makes a person fit and fine.
Ravi Krishnan, Co-founder of Stepathlon Lifestyle. himself believes that even one step at a time leads to fitness. Stepathlon encouraged all its participants or step-athletes to do 10,000 steps a day in a 100 day corporate engagement programme.
The problem with present generation is that they have forgotten movement. People now a days don’t even fetch a glass of water for themselves. They get someone else to do it. We get lesser and lesser opportunity to walk as we climb up corporate ladders .
There is nothing more dangerous than the lack of movement. We can therefore, say sitting is the new smoking. There were 5.3 million deaths worldwide, recorded due to physical inactivity as opposed to 5 million deaths due to smoking. So people, make walking a fun and a habit in this busy lifestyle or else make your body a workshop of diseases. The choice is yours.
