Basic Precautions Before Start Doing Yoga

Yoga is a perfect way to keep you healthy and fit. Either do it as your exercise or make it as the way your life performing it as one among your daily schedules. Every form of exercise has got its own rules and regulations and its the same with Yoga. Here are the list of basic precautions before starting to practice Yoga.

The Yoga Posture

Basic Precautions:

  • 1. Never workout on a heavy stomach
  • 2. Exercise, preferably, two hours after your breakfast and four hours after your lunch
  • 3. Drink at least 4 to 5 litres of water in a day to avoid constipation and indigestion
  • 4. There should be a break of at least 10 seconds between each asana in the sequence
  • 5. If you have any kind of ailments or health-related issues please consult your doctor before doing any exercise or do it under the guidance of a yoga teacher.
  • 6. Pregnant women should not do these sets of asanas. Also, people with chronic back pain, heart related problems, and hernia should avoid certain asanas.
  • Where to do Yoga: Choose a place which has fresh air circulation preferably a garden, a terrace, or a workout place in your house.

    What do You Need: A Yoga mat, a bottle of water, and a hand or face towel. You can also play some nice slow music in the background if you like.

    Warming Up: Spread the mat on the floor and sit in a comfortable position. Take five to ten long breaths to relax yourself, then lie down on your back and stretch yourself by raising your hands up and toes downward about five times.
