Skoda’s Action India recently began the production of Rapid, their first entry level compact sedan, at mother company Volks Wagen’s plant at Chakan, near Pune.
This Sedan is based on the VWvento was also showcased at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show. Skoda’s new version Rapid will appear in Indian showrooms within a month even before it is launched in Europe or China.
The compact Sedan will be using the same Engine that pass the WV Vento and, keeping the common platform in mind, it is expected that the rapid will be priced competitively at about Rs.6 Lac for the basic model.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show the Czech also showcased their small hatchback, the Citygo, which may also be introduced in India, positioned below the Fabia by next year. Overall, Skoda is planning to double the sales globally to 1.5 million units from 2012 onwards.
