How To Prevent Hair Loss

Hair loss seems to be common problem now a days. Some of the major causes of hair loss problems are Nutritional deficiency, stress, dandruff, thyroid imbalance, illness, excessive oil in the scalp, or damage caused by procedures like hair colouring/dyeing, bleaching, straightening, perming, etc. Hormonal imbalance can also be the factor behind the problem of hair loss. Generally in men, hair loss can be due to hormonal factors.

Try to find out which causes apply to you and accordingly cure for the same. For example, for women age may be a common factor and for men any hereditary problem in the family.

The most common precaution is care regarding washing of hairs. It should be washed according to hair type and season. If the hairs are oily they should be washed 3 to 4 times a week and for dry hairs twice a week. Accordingly in hot and humid weather conditions the hairs should be washed more often, in order to remove the dirt and oil deposits.

It is also very important to use right products for washing the hairs. Harsh hair products disturb the normal acid-alkaline balance and also stimulate the scalp, which leads to build up of dead cells on the scalp leading to dandruff and eventually the problem of hair loss. If your work requires excess travelling through long distance, hairs should be washed frequently using little shampoo.


Basic requirement is shampoo along with a conditioner. For dry hair creamy conditioners must be used. Apart from these, you would need hair oil, herbal hair tonic and hair pack. One should select products containing herbs and natural ingridents like amla, reetha, brahmi, bhringaraj, neem, sandalwood etc.

As nutritional deficiency is one of the most common causes of hair loss, the diet is very important. One must consume a bowl of sprout in daily diet. Also include fruits, leafy vegetables, raw salads etc. if the scalp is oily and contains dandruff one must consume plenty of water. Also ask your doctor to prescribe vitamin and mineral supplements.

And lastly most important try to reduce stress. Learn yoga and practice it daily. Learn relaxation techniques. They help to reduce stress and thus control hair loss.
