Reliance has plans to launch its 4G services by December. Currently being tested by Reliance, the network quality will be at par with what other service providers will be offering to consumers. Reliance Jio, the telecom arm of Reliance already has plans to enhance its optical fibre network for providing seamless connectivity to prospective customers.
The company has lareday started testing the 4G network in beta mode among its employees. Reliance has big plans to ensure 4G reaches its users in India and has invested a hefty amount to ensure the transition from 3G to 4G is smooth for its existing customers. The company is not taking any chances and the network will be rigorously tested before it’s rolled out on a pan India basis. The company has massive plans for its 4G network and is reportedly investing a whopping Rs. 3500 crores for its network expansion.
Reliance Jio will also be offering a number of services for users who wish to use the new high speed network. Reliance is also in talks with major cell phone manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung to ensure that Reliance Jio can be offered as a bundled service on their devices. Reliance express and Jio stores will be used to actively promote the service among both existing and new customers. More than 1000 new Jio stores will be added all over the country to ensure maximum network penetration in all major cities. Jio chat will basically be an instant messenger that will support voice and video calls along with call conferencing; file and media sharing. Launched in April, it is already available on Google store and Apple store.
Switch and Talk
This application will allow users to switch between different devices at the touch of a button. It will Xerox all your contacts, messages etc. seamlessly across devices.
It is a cloud storage service that will allow users to enormous amounts of storage for storing and sharing content.
The service will provide the facility of streaming movies and channels that will convert your handset into an active television device as well.
It is a music streaming service and will also offer offline service.
Jio Mags and Jio News
These apps will allow users easy access to popular magazines and breaking news from various categories and multiple languages.
Plans are also afoot to ensure a super cheap 4G enabled handset that will offer 4G connectivity to interested users. This will be done through the Jio retail stores that are currently operational in the country. The device is likely to be priced as low as Rs. 4000 and will come with bundled monthly usage at Rs. 300 to Rs. 500. Reliance will also follow it up with a range of smart phones across all price segments to ensure users can sample 4G technology at discounted rates.
